Hi,
Well, after a lot of soul-searching, planning, and ground work, the online publication has begun!
It is up to and including Chapter 4: "The Golden Horseshoe" - the run around the megalopolis at the southwest end of Lake Ontario, from St. Catharines through Hamilton and Toronto to Oshawa, stopping to camp for the night near Ottawa, the capital of Canada.
You will be able to read three new chapters each Monday, which will be posted through April 21.
You BEGIN THE JOURNEY HERE: http://www.melawend.com/theonline.htmI invite your comments questions. If you want to share them, please post them here. Or you can contact me directly via the website -
http://www.melawend.com/You can also post on
a blog set up for ITLR on a superb website -
girlbike.com - created by
Crystal Waters (great name, eh?) It is pimarily for girls who love scooters. Here's the blog:
http://girlbike.com/2008/01/04/in_the_long_run/ While you're there, explore the website. If you enjoy her site, tell others about it... and tell Crystal that Tom sent you.
I also enjoyed doing
an online interview with
Brad Horn for the
BETWEEN TWO RIVERS Scooter Club, based in Iowa, USA. They too have an excellent website. Check it out!
http://www.btrscoots.com/drupal/?q=node/5 Again, tell others about the BTR site... and tell Brad and Russ that Tom sent you.
If you are enjoying the journey, please SPREAD THE WORD! Tell family, friends, colleagues, media, celebrities, that friendly teller at your bank!- Send e-mails!
- Send faxes!
- Make phone calls!
- Post notices on bulletin boards! in shopping malls, cafeterias, libraries, etc. (here's one already made for you - just print & post it - http://www.melawend.com/notice.htm
- Send greating cards! - for whatever occasion - even just to say "Hello!" and tell him or her about an online book you think they might like to read. BE SURE to include the website address: http://www.melawend.com/
- Post online - in clubs, newsgroups, blogs, etc.! If there is a discussion going on for which IN THE LONG RUN has relevant information, mention it, and perhaps include the ITLR website page address where the information can be found. (It won't be seen as spam because it is not about something you are selling.)
Again, please share your comments or questions.
Take good care of you and those you love (you know the ones... those we often take for granted.)
Until next time!
Tom
